The Pope announced today that he is retiring.
Benedict XVI (Joseph Ratzinger) is a man who has surprised me. As head of the Roman Catholic church he has written and acted in ways that I believe truly honor Christ. He is a morally upright man, brilliant, and a conservative Biblicist–having much more in common with Protestant Evangelicals than many popes or much of the current Roman Church. You can read two good articles about him below.
As we watch him retire and another take his place over the Roman Catholic Church, lets respect him for the good he has done and pray for God’s favor over the selection of his replacement. “Let your reasonableness be evident to all (Philippians 4:5).”
