Dear Co-Laborers In Christ,
The great American colonial preacher Jonathan Edwards would jot down thoughts, events, observations on scraps of paper and pin them to his coat while horseback riding. Upon returning home, he would expand these thoughts, put them into a notebook book and use them in sermons and writings. He would title this note book “Miscellanies.”
This newsletter can be titles “Miscellanies”, not because I compare myself to Jonathan Edwards, but because it is a miscellaneous collection of somewhat different topics.
Ordination Service – May 6th Morning Service. Elder Tom Borders and Deacon David Yamarick will be ordained during this service. We will also observe the Lord’s Table and receive 5 new members into the fellowship at Windsor.
Concert of Prayer – May 6th Evening Service. Please continue to pray for God’s wisdom to be upon the elders as they move forward on planning our building. We encourage everyone to join with us for prayer each Wednesday evening at 7 PM.
Outreach to Abraxas – May 13th Baptism Service. On April 22nd God blessed our outreach to Abraxas Academy. Two young men trusted in Jesus Christ, and now, along with another believer desire to be baptized. Three young men will be baptized at Windsor Baptist Church, during the morning service. I thank all the members who ministered to these young men and women. Your labor was not in vain. There will be no evening service on May 13th, Mother’s Day.
Budget Development – The elders, deacons, administrative assistant, treasurer, boards and committees of the church and schools are in the process of developing an operating budget for the 2018-2019 fiscal year which begins on July 1, 2018. A congregational meeting will take place in the near future to approve this budget.
Annual Meeting – the 2017-18 Annual Meeting will take place in July. All officers, boards and committees need to submit their annual reports to the church office by July 13th.
Although this miscellaneous collection of topics cannot compare with Jonathan Edwards’ notebooks, it is nevertheless very important for our church and schools to read and apply to ourselves. Thank you.
Prayerfully,
Pastor Chaya
