Today the United States Supreme Court ruled that the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional. It also ruled that the voters of California were wrong in 2008 when they passed proposition 8, defining marriage as a union of one man and one woman.
These are very telling decisions by our Supreme Court. We should understand, from both decisions, that the highest court in our republic exercises more power than either of the other two branches of our government. We should also see in these decisions a clear mark of the shifting morality behind our nation’s laws.
