Whenever you have to take your children on a road trip, how do you make use of the travel time?

I highly recommend the dramatized books and stories from Focus on the Family’s Radio Theatre. They have entertainment for all ages. Starting around age 3 they will be captivated by the dramatized version of The Chronicles of Narnia and it is almost as good as reading the books:
